Santander

On 1 May 2026, TSB Bank plc, which also trades as Whistletree, became part of Santander.

You don’t need to do anything. This change only affects ownership and not how your Whistletree account is managed.  Your account terms, account number, interest rate, monthly payment amount, payment date, how you pay, and how you manage your account all remain the same.

We'll give you plenty of notice about any future changes before they take effect.

If you have any questions, please see our FAQs below.

Unfortunately, fraudsters sometimes use news like this to try and catch people out. If you’re worried about something, please call us on 0330 159 6612.

How does the acquisition affect me, and do I need to do anything?

You don’t need to do anything today and you can continue to use your Whistletree accounts in the same way.

If there are any changes in the future, we’ll let you know with plenty of notice before the changes take effect.

I’m a Whistletree customer, am I now a Santander customer?

No, if you have a Whistletree product, you continue to be a Whistletree customer.

Are the TSB and/or Whistletree names changing to Santander?

There are no changes to the TSB and Whistletree names at this stage.

When will the transfer of TSB to Santander be complete?

The acquisition has now been approved by the regulators which means TSB is now wholly owned by Santander UK. We expect to go through a process to formally transfer TSB’s business and assets to Santander UK, including its Whistletree mortgages and products, however this is still subject to further legal and regulatory approvals.

We’ll share full details about this process with all customers in advance, so you don’t need to do anything today and you can keep banking with TSB as you do now.

Support

I’ve had a suspicious call, text or email, or I don’t recognise a payment – how do I report it?

Fraudsters often take advantage of times of change to try to trick people into sharing personal or financial information.

While we will share updates with you during this process, we’ll never ask for your security details, over the phone or email, and we’ll never ask you to move your account or money. If someone asks for these details, do not share them – this is a scam.

If you need more support, please call 0330 159 6612.

What happens to my personal information, and how will my data be stored?

There is no change to the way we collect, store and process your personal information. However, we may now share your information with Santander UK PLC, their parent Banco Santander S.A and other companies in the Santander group.

This information is shared for essential purposes only, including meeting legal and regulatory requirements, and where it is in our legitimate interests to do so.
