Changes to your mortgage

We understand that there may be circumstances which mean you may need to make changes to your mortgage, for example changing your term or repayment type. Depending upon what you want to do, there are a number of ways to get started. You’ll find details below on what you need to do for each change.

Change your mortgage term

Depending upon your circumstances you may be able to increase or decrease your mortgage term.

If you increase your mortgage term then your payments may reduce, although you will pay more interest overall. If you decrease your mortgage term, you should be prepared for higher monthly payments.

You’ll need to speak to one of our Mortgage Advisers to do this, so to make an appointment, please call us on 0330 159 6612*, 8.30am – 6pm Monday – Friday.

Change your mortgage type

You may be able to change your repayment type depending upon your circumstances. This could mean that you switch your mortgage from interest only to repayment. This may be all of it or a percentage that helps to reduce the amount you owe.

You’ll need to speak to one of our Mortgage Advisers to do this, so to make an appointment, please call us on 0330 159 6612*, 8.30am – 6pm Monday – Friday.

Change of Parties / Transfer of equity

If you are changing the legal ownership of your home (adding or removing someone from the mortgage), due to marriage or divorce for example, you need to complete a transfer of equity. This process can be complex and you will usually need to involve a solicitor. If you want to change the ownership of your home please contact us and we will be happy to take you through the process.

Change your name or address

To change your correspondence address details, please contact us so that we can understand your circumstances and take you through the process.

If you have registered for our new online Self-Serve facility, you may be able to update your correspondence address online. You can find out more about Self-Serve here.

To change your name we require the necessary legal documents and authorised signature(s). To start this process, please print off and complete the relevant form below and return this to the address quoted on the document.

Request change of name

Request third party authority

To enable a third party to discuss or request details of your mortgage account on your behalf, we must have a valid authority signed by all parties to your mortgage. This can be done by printing off and completing the 3rd party request form and then returning it to: Whistletree, PO Box 116, Skipton BD23 9FF.

Any third party to whom authority is given will be unable to make material changes to your mortgage account, for example, changing personal or bank details. Any authority remains in place for the term of the mortgage unless you give notice that you wish it to be withdrawn.
